In Illinois, a worker was killed on Thursday when the vehicle he was operating detonated.
Oscar “Zeke” Bettorf, 60, perished in an explosion at the Winchester Ammunition factory, according to KMOV.
According to officials, Bettorf was delivering shotgun shell primers at the ammunition site when the tractor-trailer he was driving exploded.
On the spot, Bettorf was identified as deceased. According to a preliminary autopsy, the 60-year-old had injuries to his head, neck, and chest.
The incident included a company car, according to the business, and an investigation into what happened has been launched.
“We are deeply saddened that a Winchester employee was fatally injured this afternoon in an incident involving a company vehicle at the company’s East Alton facility,” a company spokeswoman said in a statement.
“The family and coworkers of our employee are in our thoughts and prayers. We will fully investigate what happened because this is a tragedy, the official stated.
