Sometimes you have to go through something bad in order to get to something better and that is just what happened to Mandi Sagal. Her second single, “Rainbow,” reminds us at the start of Pride Month that love comes in all different styles and that you just need to find your person that will color your world.

If you are from the Green Bay area, chances are you already know this Wisconsin native. Sagal started singing all around her home state, including at Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers games. But after high school, she packed up and moved to Nashville to further pursue her dreams of being a singer.

Taking inspiration from artists like Fleetwood Mac and Maren Morris, Sagal released her first single, “Smoke Your Weed,” earlier this year. The song speaks about an unhealthy relationship where two people do not necessarily care for each other. It is a radical difference from “Rainbow,” but her personal life may have had something to do with that.

“After getting out of a toxic relationship I met the love of my life,” Sagal told Celeb Secrets Country exclusively. “I always said he was my rainbow after the storm. This song represents finding your ‘Rainbow’ no matter your sexual orientation or race. Love may look differently on the outside but it’s the same on the inside and I think we did a great job capturing that in this video.”

The video features couples of different races, sexualities and body types and beautifully shows that love is love. You may even shed a tear at a bittersweet one where an older woman holds up a picture of her late husband and you can still feel the love that is in her heart.

“Filming this music video filled my heart with so much love. We went to the houses of 16 couples and captured their love,” Sagal said. “BlackFip Creative did a phenomenal job of making my ‘frolicking in a field under a rainbow’ dreams come true.”

Releasing this the first Friday in June will also stick out to country fans who are part of the LGBTQ+ community. While country music has not had many out artists, progress is slowly being made. Brandi Carlile of The Highwomen has been married to her wife since 2012 and has won Best “Country Song” at The Grammys two years in a row. And just earlier this year, T.J. Osborne of Brothers Osborne came out making him the first openly gay artist signed to a major country music label.

“I hope when people listen to this song that their ‘rainbow’ comes to mind,” Sagal wishes by reminding us that your “rainbow” is your “rainbow” and no one else’s to judge.

Combining genres like country, pop and rock, Sagal has created a unique sound that is entirely her own. It’s clear that she has a sunny future ahead. We want more from her and will be slightly impatiently waiting by.

“As an independent artist, it is an incredible effort to just get one single off the ground,” she said. “However, I do have hopes of getting more music out this year!”
