Lucy Kate Jackson (born 29 October 1948) is a renowned American actress and filmmaker addressed as Kate Jackson. She is best known for her appearances in the television shows Charlie’s Angels, Scarecrow, and Mrs. King.

She was brought up in Birmingham, Alabama, and became interested in acting as a young adolescent. When she was 16 years old, she started modeling and simultaneously pursued acting instruction. She enrolled in lessons in theater history at Birmingham Southern College.

Before beginning her acting career, she also trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. Kate Jackson made her acting debut in the horror movie Night of Dark Shadows in 1971 and received the lead role in the drama movie Limbo.

She made her television debut in 1970’s Dark Shadows and went on to feature in minor roles in shows like The Rookies and Baby BoomKate Jackson found the most success in programs like Charlie’s Angels and Scarecrow and Mrs. King, where she played the primary characters. Hogan Jackson and Ruth Shepherd welcomed Lucy Kate Jackson into the world on October 29, 1948, in Birmingham, Alabama, United States. She was raised alongside Jenny Jackson, her sister.

She grew up in a very wealthy family; her mother, Ruth Shepherd, was a stay-at-home mom, and her father, Hogan Jackson, was the president of a building supply company. She lived with her family in Mountain Brook, Alabama, and went to the Brooke Hill School for Girls

Kate Jackson had already decided she wanted to be an actor by the time she graduated from high school. She started modeling when she was 16 to supplement her income. She first enrolled in the University of Mississippi after graduating from high school, but she transferred to Birmingham Southern College during her sophomore year to study speech and theater history.

At about the same period, she began performing in plays. Kate Jackson was accepted as an apprentice at the Stowe Playhouse in Vermont during her last academic year, but she was unsatisfied and decided to move to New York City, where she enrolled at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts

Before beginning her acting career, Kate Jackson worked as an NBC page and a tour guide at the Rockefeller Center. She made her acting debut in the long-running Gothic soap opera Dark Shadows in 1970 in a minor role as Daphne Harridge. She portrayed a ghost in the cult-favorite horror drama in which she starred. 

She gained significant influence in the industry by playing a significant role in 71 episodes. She then appeared in two episodes of the sitcom The Jimmy Stewart Show and a cameo appearance in the Bonanza series. 

Kate Jackson made her acting debut in the 1971 horror movie Night of Dark Shadows when she played a minor role. Despite receiving negative reviews from reviewers, the movie still did well at the box office. She then appeared in the critically acclaimed and popular drama movie Limbo.

When she made an appearance as one of the lead characters in the police procedural drama series The Rookies in 1972, she got a big break. She played the character Jill Danko in the popular television series. It lasted until 1976 when she was given the part for which she is still best known. 

Even though The Rookies was canceled, Kate Jackson was still obligated by her contract, so when the creators of Charlie’s Angels began casting, She was their top option. Additionally, she herself gave the show’s creators a title suggestion.

The starring role in the movie Kramer vs. Kramer was given to her, but she neglected the offer since she loved her time on the show so much. Meryl Streep eventually took over this role. Charlie’s Angels, which aired for five seasons and 115 episodes, was hailed as the decade’s most notable program. Kate Jackson garnered three Golden Globe Award nominations and two Primetime Emmy nods for her work on the show. In Charlie’s Angels, she performed from 1976 to 1979.
