Pazura enjoys freshly gathered mushrooms for home cooking. "Mushrooms are one of the few non-animal sources of vitamin D," says registered nutritionist Nicola Shubrook. "When they are grown, exposed to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, either from sunlight or a UV lamp, mushrooms increase their concentration of vitamin D. In fact, you can even do this at home by leaving mushrooms out on the counter in direct sunlight for 15-120 minutes; studies suggest this simple act may result in levels of vitamin D2 as high as 10mcg per 100g fresh weight."

Pazura gathers nettles and uses them for tea and infusions. "Stinging nettle has been used for hundreds of years to treat painful muscles and joints, eczema, arthritis, gout, and anemia," says Mount Sinai Health. "Today, many people use it to treat urinary problems during the early stages of an enlarged prostate (called benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH). It is also used for urinary tract infections, hay fever (allergic rhinitis), or in compresses or creams for treating joint pain, sprains and strains, tendonitis, and insect bites."

Pazura loves fresh fruit for breakfast, especially apples and kiwis. "Fruit and vegetable intake are thought to be associated with greater bone density and improved bone health," Shubrook says. "Findings from a study on healthy women suggested apples, in particular, may minimize the amount of calcium lost from the body and hence improve bone strength."

Pazura enjoys taking long, luxurious baths. "Taking baths has great physical and mental health benefits," says family medicine provider Amy Zack, MD. "One benefit is cleanliness. Bathing cleans your skin, helping you avoid irritation, inflammation and sores caused by dead skin cell accumulation. The bacterial and fungal load from contact in your environment can also accumulate, increasing the risk of infection."

Pazura loves nothing more than curling up with a good book. "Researchers studied the records of 5,635 participants in the Health and Retirement Study, an ongoing investigation of people who were 50 or older and had provided information on their reading habits when the study began," says Harvard Health. "They determined that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years compared with people who weren't readers or who read periodicals."
